Option two: Link into Maori
What is Similar as well as being the same about Rangi & Papa in Maori Myths and ledgends to Gaia & Uranus in Greek Mythology.

The story of Rangi & Papa (Ranginui the sky father & Papatuanuki the Earth mother) is that they are both the most important Gods. The reason there being is so important, is for non other than  them simply being the earth and sky however they are also important as they bared six male children. Who are obviously Gods as well. Tumatauenga the god of war & people, Tawhirimatea The God of wind and weather, Tane-Mahuta The God of forests and birds, Tangaroa The God of the sea and fish, Rongomatane The god of Cultivated food, and Haumietiketike the God of Uncultivated food. 
In the Maori legend, it is said that Rangi & Papa loved each other so much, that they were inseparable. Literally. That they were bonded as one. Which means that there children were doomed to live in total darkness in between the two. 
All six of there children wanted only one thing in the world. And that one thing was to see, feel, touch the power of Light. 
However some were prepared to do whatever was necessary to get what they wanted. 
Tumatauenga The God of War, grew angry at the fact that there parents love for each other meant that they had to live in complete darkness. So he suggested to the other siblings that the only way they could get what they desired the most, was to kill their parents.
Tane-Mahuta didn’t agree, and came up with the idea to to break them apart instead. Rongo, Tangaroa and Haumia-tiketike all liked the idea and tried to separate there parents however there was no success. 
Tane Mahuta tried a completely different technique. He lay on his back and pushed his legs up with all his might and mana. Eventually after many attempts he was greated by Te Ao Marama (the light of day). All siblings were happy about there choice, however Tawhiri-matea the God of wind and weather, grew angry at the sound of there parents cries for each other, that he joined Rangi in the void that was called the sky. 
Tawhiri-matea down the road ended up having children to spite his brothers and what they did to there parents. His children were known as rain, fog and mist.
And till this day his revenge for his brothers still serves. 
The story of Gaia & Uranus is said that Uranus is the heaven God within Greek Mythology. Gaia, The earth mother also known for her fertility, as well as being the creator of Pontus the sea and Orea the mountains and of course created Uranus. As Uranus rained upon the world and met Gaia during night fall, it is said that they (Uranus and his mother Gaia) bared children also known as Titans, These children were Mnemosyne, Tethys, Theia, Phoebe, Rhea, Themis, Oceanus, Hyperion, Coeus, Cronus, Crius, and Iapetus. 

Apart from there obvious reasons, like being myths and legends for people to believe in they are also the same in which it is to do with gods of the Earth and sky/heaven, and how they are loves who had children that help humans to live. The differences go so fare fetched as to in Greek mythology the earth mother sleeps with his son and that in Maori mythology they were one. However in the end both gave people hope that what they lived on, how the sky changed from day to night, how the weather felt against there skin.

Art


How my art will be influenced by my art history artists, is that I will be adding into some of my art pieces a template of what one of my art history artists used (Manjit Thapp). I really enjoyed her contrast of the art being shown in 4 different boxes showing different shades of emotions and sadness. I wanted to use this template to create a 'then and now' approach of only hair and makeup fashion icon looks of what women like my mum considered beautiful and what I consider beautiful.

Introduction:
Image result for manjit thappMy concept for my two artboards is to represent how all things 'Women' have changed over the period of time. My concept will be emersed with powerful women represented throughout the ages. It will show the way clothing has changed and also show the difference between the beauty standards from a then and now perspective. My why is so that not only girls/women but boys/men can see that the 'Norm' of what society tells females to look like changes over the periods of time, and that we are simply human and can not live up to these unobtainable images. My powerful wahine (women) you truly are beautiful the way you are, and you don't need to change to fit the 'Norm' of society. The reason we all are different is that we as women can not be categorized. Its time we rise and focus on ourselves instead of what every other person wants you to be. 

Generation of ideas 1:

One of my other art history artists is great Banksy. I want to use his most iconic piece 'Girl with Balloon' for its color palette in more of my pieces going on my second board to show that the beauty standards of the 'then' (of plastic surgery, lip injections, botox) have clouded the vision of young girls such as myself. I also want to incorporate his powerful message of when his art was being auctioned off for millions of dollars. For people than to be surprised at his work shredded up with the built-in shredder to the frame. I hope to complete a shredded piece of artwork nearing the end to close my whole message up. By using what the world perceives the ideal image to look like, but beneath all of the cut paper, you will then see different sized women with stretch marks and everything that makes a woman who she truly is.

My last art history artist that I would like to incorporate is the way that Hayden Williams creates his females. I think that the tall, slim thick models represent what the world perceives women to be like with big lips, big waist, and big breasts.  I want to draw the same women of what society wants and then contrast the stunning 'Perfect' women with different sized women and of different colors, clothed with any style of clothing that they have chosen to wear to express THEMSELVES.

Generation of ideas 3:
I experimented with paint, as well as using the lightbox to trace out all of the different females from the different eras. I drew and painted hair and makeup that will contrast well with all of the different colored women so that that the viewers are emersed within the pieces and the meaning behind it. I think that by doing this, if done well will really represent how women have been throughout the ages, and what they had been told by society to, look and dress like. However, there have been some difficult moments. I struggled with making my first 10 pieces perfect that when every little part wasn't exactly how I envisioned, I would overwork the art pieces and worked way too long on them. This meant that I lost a lot of time that I could have been spending on my other artwork. Like one of the art pieces backgrounds were not going the way I planned for, so then caused me to paint it multiple times. It was frustrating, however, in the end, it made me work harder and faster so that I could get my other art pieces done.

Development of ideas 1:
My first art pieces include 10 pieces showing what was classed as appropriate and the Norm for what women were told by society to wear from the 1900s-2000s.
I made a timeline of all of the clothes that were 'In', showcasing how society portrays women to look like.
As you can see below, all 10 photos link to an era of time of what was acceptable. For example, the first image (1900's) shows a woman covered completely and then in contrasts through the 100 years to the last image or (2000's) where you can see a woman who has exposed breasts with the tank top, that was (in) during that period of time. you can also see her waist with the low cut jeans.

Trial Experiment

Aim: I want to investigate how the concentration of Dettol affects the growth of bacteria. 


Hypothesis: As we increased the concentration of Dettol that we added to the paper filter's, then it will have a greater effect on the bacterial growth.


Equipment: Agar Plate - cotton bud  - Permanent marker - Dettol - water - Filter paper  - Hole  Punch - Bacteria (Yoghurt)  - Beaker - Plastic Pipette - Spotting tile - Tweezers 


Method: 

1. Get the equipment that is listed above.


2. Next punch (x4) holes of your filtered paper with your hole puncher and then place them to the side until you have gotten the Dettol solution ready.

3. Once you have finished step 1 and 2 you would then get your agar plate and draw with your permanent marker even lines to divide them into fours (like the picture shown on your right)

4. Once you have drawn on your agar plate you would then go in with your yogurt solution. 

Swab just enough yogurt to cover your cotton buds tip and place a thin and even coat around the top part of your agar plate. 
(Where your permanent marker is)

5. After you have put your thin coat of yogurt you will then get your spotting tile, Bunsen burner, tweezers, your Dettol solution and also the filtered paper that you put aside in the first step.


6.  place 10 drops of Dettol solution with your plastic pipette in one of the little individual spotted tiles that are allocated. Once you have done this - grab 9 drops from the previous spotting tile and place it in the tile next one-two it. Once you have done this get one drop of water and add it to the 2nd spotting tile that has 9 drops of the Dettol.

Grab 9 drops of the 2nd and place it in the third, then do the same with the 4th.

If you have done this correctly you should have mimicked dilating the Dettol solution. 


7. Place the 4 filtered papers into each spotting tile that has the solution.


8. Well you wait for your solution to soak in you will then bring out your bunsen burner, tweezers, the alcohol (To sterilize the tweezers.) Once you have finished getting these 3 items you then will turn on your bunsen burner and make sure it is on the blue flame (as it is the hottest) and dab your tweezers in the alcohol to sterilize them. 

Hold your tweezers carefully in the flame until you can see that the tweezers turn black. 

9. Grab the first filtered paper that is in the first spotting tile and place it in section A on your agar plate in the middle. Do this for the all the filtered papers that are in the solution and then get ready for the second to last step!


10.  Once you have placed the filtered papers on the agar plate put the lid on, grab your tape and tape it around the rounded edge so that it is sealed shut. 


11. Get your vivid once again and put your name on the cornered edge (we place the name on the cornered edge so that we can see the results more clearly.

Solution: 
Our experiment with the yogurt, unfortunately, did not work but luckily enough we did have two girls who were kind enough to let us finish our experiment by using their solution. 

Below is a variation of how the bacteria died. and the reason that there are different measurements is that when you go back to step 6 when you are applying the Detol solution to the filtered paper on A it is more enhanced the B - D

We are measuring the growth of bacteria within our experiment of the agar plate


How will the dependent variable be measured or observed?


We will measure the clear zone around the filtered paper that had our Detol solution on it. By doing this we will be measuring how much of the bacteria that got killed off.

We can control the number of bacteria by the amount of peppercorn solution we use

By controlling how much our water you put in the detol you control how strong it works
Not cleaning the tweezers
By not cleaning tweezers there may already be bacteria on the tweezers resulting in different results.

    We trialed our run three times and by doing this if we get the same results all three times or majority of
the time.

Unfortunately, our work was not successful as we didn't sellotape it shut properly and dried out the bacteria.

Interpretation of data:

This data showed…
Our group's experiment didn’t work however from what we saw from the other people in our class, was that not only did their experiment work but that we could tell that this has happened because as they increased the amount of concentration of Dettol the more Bacteria they killed off.
Conclusion: I conclude…
I conclude that this data showed as we increased the concentration of Dettol we killed off more bacteria that was grown on our agar plate
From the graph, you can see above there is an increasing trend. The reason for the increase is because the more Dettol solution you use the more bacteria you kill off.

Discussion and Evaluation of the Method and Data.

Dettol, also known as para-chloro-meta-xylenol. It is an antiseptic and disinfectant used for skin disinfection and cleaning surgical instruments. The active ingredient that works on bacteria in Dettol is Chloroxylenol, this is the product that kills off bacteria the most inside Dettol


Dettol is an antibacterial, which means that it has ingredient in it that can kill or prevent the growth of bacteria. This ingredient is parachlorometaxylenol.
Bacteria are sensitive structures, and some chemicals can damage their cell shape or metabolism, which prevents them from surviving.
For example. When we soaked the filtered paper in the Dettol solution, you could see that the higher the concentration of Dettol the more microorganisms were killed off. 

The structure of bacteria like the diagram on the right is a makeup of the cell walls, membrane, cytoplasm, nuclear material, capsule, flagella, pili, and spore.
1. Capsule - Protects the bacteria, (it acts like a coat)
2. Cell wall - The cell wall keeps the structure of the cell
3. Cell membrane - Controls what enters the cell
4. DNA - Is the genetic code
5. Ribosomes - Is where the proteins are made
6. Plasmid - Is DNA that codes for non-essentials of DNA
processes 
7. Flagellum- Is the tail that is used to move 
8. Pili - Transfers the genetic information. 
If you are wondering how bacteria can reproduce, - is because it can go through the process of binary fission. This is where the bacteria (which is a single cell) divides into two which is the Identical daughters. Binary fission starts when the DNA of the bacteria divides into two causing the bacteria to reproduce.
As you can see in the drawing on your right this is a more broken down version of what binary fission is.
1 - parent cell is the original that will build the cell wall.
2 -  DNA replicated is the bacterial genome that replicates and will still remain attached to the membrane. But also at the same time, the plasmids present the replicate in replicated.
3 - Cell Grows. The cross wall forms completely around and divides the DNA 
5 - cell divides Once the parent cell has gone through this process it divides 
6 - Cell separates  The parent cell is completely separated causing it to be a duplicate. 

The question you need to answer is Explain the conclusion and also the evaluation

In Conclusion, the experiment was reliable because we not only did 1 or two trials but we also used another reference from our class. However, our first time we trialed the experiment it was unsuccessful as we did not sellotape the lid and the bass of the agar plate together properly which caused our bacteria when it formed to dry out in the incubator. 

We did not have enough time to fix our experiment, but we fixed it by using the other people on our tables results. There were no anomalies that we found in the results which were good because that means they did the experiment properly and also its good so that we no in future reference if we would use that experiment again. 
In future reference to fix the problem of our bacteria drying up, we would get another pair from our class to check if we sellotaped the sides properly or not. This way we could have two sets of eyes that could see where we made a mistake.

A question I would like to ask is - if the bacteria got dried up because of the air that was seeping in from the outside, in real life is that why we can not see the bacteria because the air we breath is making it not visible?
